Civil Aviation Ministry gives in-principle approval for Orvakal Airport, expected completion by 2028.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has granted in-principle approval for a new greenfield airport at Orvakal in Kurnool district. The ₹2,500 crore project will be developed in two phases, with the first phase expected to be operational by December 2028. The airport will have a 3,000-meter runway capable of handling Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
