ICMR Approves India’s First Indigenous Cervical Cancer Vaccine

‘CerviShield’ developed by Serum Institute to be priced at ₹350 per dose, available from August.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) today approved ‘CerviShield’ – India’s first indigenous cervical cancer vaccine developed by Serum Institute of India. The vaccine will be priced at ₹350 per dose (compared to ₹4,000 for imported vaccines) and will be available from August 2026. The government plans to vaccinate 5 crore girls in the first phase.
