500 quadrillion calculations per second capability to aid climate research, drug discovery, and AI.

Japan’s RIKEN research institute today unveiled ‘Fugaku Next’, the world’s most powerful supercomputer with processing capability of 500 petaflops (500 quadrillion calculations per second). The ¥1.2 trillion ($8 billion) machine will be used for climate modeling, drug discovery, artificial intelligence research, and disaster prediction.
