The European Parliament today passed landmark legislation banning all single-use plastic products across the 27-member bloc effective January 1, 2027. The ban covers plastic cutlery, straws, plates, cotton buds, balloon sticks, oxo-degradable plastics, and expanded polystyrene food containers. Violators will face fines of up to €100,000.
