Privacy-focused update brings on-device AI, satellite messaging, and battery share.

At its I/O 2026 developer conference, Google today unveiled Android 17 codenamed ‘Vanilla Cake’. Key features include on-device Gemini AI (no data sent to cloud), satellite messaging for emergency use (similar to iPhone), and ‘Battery Share’ for wireless charging other phones. The update will roll out to Pixel devices starting August 2026.
