Political uncertainty continues as TVK falls short of majority despite Congress and Left parties’ support.

The suspense over Tamil Nadu government formation continues as Governor R.V. Arlekar has not yet sent an invite to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief C. Joseph Vijay to form the government. The TVK, despite securing 108 seats in the assembly elections, remains short of the halfway mark of 118. The Communist Party of India has extended “unconditional support” to the TVK, and Congress has announced a tie-up with its five seats, bringing the party’s tally to 113. However, the governor’s office maintains that forming a majority is “essential” before inviting any party. TVK supporters and Congress workers have staged protests outside Lok Bhavan, demanding that Vijay be allowed to prove his majority on the floor of the House.
